Money worries

Financial pressure can affect concentration, sleep and attendance. The first step is to get a clear picture of the problem and ask about support before it becomes more urgent.

Things you can try

  • List essential costs and the money you currently have coming in.
  • Prioritise essentials such as housing, food, travel and utilities.
  • Open letters or messages about money rather than leaving them unread.
  • Contact an organisation early if you think you will miss a payment.
  • Ask DMS what practical support or external advice routes may be available.

When to ask for more help

If money worries are affecting your ability to attend or continue your course, tell Student Support so they can help you find appropriate advice.
